Peter Schmidt, PhD

Bio

Peter Schmidt, PhD, serves as Chief Scientific Officer at Dr. Vince Clinical Research. He brings more than 30 years of experience spanning translational medicine, clinical development, finance and health technology, with expertise in CNS drug development, early phase trial design, regulatory strategy and digital health.

Throughout his career, Dr. Schmidt has led scientific and strategic programs across academia, industry, clinical research organizations and nonprofit networks, serving as a chief scientist, vice dean and company president. He has guided neurology, psychiatry and immunology trials from discovery through regulatory approval — contributing to more than 100 clinical trials, supervising teams responsible for over 250 and overseeing more than $1.25 billion in operating revenue. A widely cited researcher (h-index 28), he has authored influential work on orthostatic hypotension and REM sleep behavior disorder, provided FDA testimony supporting the approval of a Parkinson’s disease therapy and helped bring five marketed medical devices and six approved drugs and biologics to patients.

In his current role, Dr. Schmidt is responsible for the scientific and clinical strategy underpinning Dr. Vince Clinical Research’s studies, including early-phase trial design, regulatory strategy, therapeutic expertise and the integration of novel technologies and digital tools into research operations. He works closely with sponsors, investigators and internal study teams to ensure scientific rigor, regulatory compliance and operational quality across the company’s programs.
